Sätraskogen Nature Reserve was Awarded the Urban Quiet Park Status on August 18, 2022
In Sätraskogen Nature Reserve you can hike through open meadows, oak slopes and old fir forest.
There is a popular beach promenade along Lake Mälaren that stretches from Liljeholmen to Vårberg. Here you have a nice view over Mälaren towards Ekerölandet.
If you're lucky, you may see ospreys or even sea eagles flying over the bay. Two bathing places are located along the road, Mälarhöjdsbadet and Sätra strandbadet.
The older cultivated lands are now being grazed again, and here, among other things, back carnation and virgin linden are blooming. Further south, the Sätraån winds its way down from Sätra towards Mälaren, one of Stockholm's remaining natural stream ravines.
If you continue south you find yourself in Skärholmsdalen, a beautiful stretch along Skärholmsbäcken. In the water environments live amphibians such as the smaller newt – a lizard-like amphibian with a beautiful play costume in the spring.
