Welcome to this edge-zone where life emerges from the deep and the presence of the elements is profoundly present. Sometimes we simply need to slow down and be quiet enough to notice what is going on around us all the time.
How is the experience?
Look – Listen – Smell – Taste – Feel– Breathe!
Restore your sense of equilibrium and balance and reconnect to yourself others and the natural world through this simple yet powerful Nature Bathing experience.
Aotea Great Barrier Island NZ is a remote and peaceful place full of magic and natural wonders on the outer edges of the South Pacific Ocean. I will host you here on a virtual Wellbeing Wander based on the Japanese practice of Shinrin-yoku.
Please join me in real time at my ocean shore from your own accessible place in nature or room with a view. I will be sharing my view of surf, pristine white sands and rocky outcrops from my screen from time to time, as we dive into a series of sensory connecting invitations that work anywhere and will help you to slow right down – and you may discover hidden treasures right where you are!
These invitations can be fun creative imaginative inspiring and deeply rejuvenating as we connect to both new experiences and sometimes rediscover memories long forgotten. We may also briefly share our stories at various places along the ‘trail’ – all is welcome here including Silence - before finishing with a shared virtual Tea Ceremony honouring my locally foraged plants.
You may experience a stronger sense of peace and calm and connection to your body as well as feeling a real sense of belonging wherever you are.

Welcome everyone - my name is Vicky Kyan and I am a certified ANFT Nature and Forest Therapy Guide, Mentor and Trainer based in New Zealand.
I am also a Mother, a Grandmother, Teacher of special needs children, Flower Essence Practitioner, a Life Coach and have worked for many years in hands on healing.
I was the first certified ANFT guide in the Southern hemisphere and am the owner and founder of WaiOra Wellbeing - a small homestay Nature Retreat on the East coast of Aotea Great Barrier Island. Here I hold a safe space for self-care and personal healing and offer small group Wellbeing Wanders/Nature Bathing experiences and Flower Essence consultations.
Over the last 3 years I have worked and travelled extensively as part of an International training team with ANFT and I have students and mentees all over the world who I guide on their personal journeys of self-discovery and wholeness. My personal journey to wellbeing informs all of my work and my life passion - to be of service to the planet and nature at this critical time of change by helping people to reconnect with themselves, each other and the more than Human world.

What an absolute joy it was to take part in a virtual walk guided by Vicky. It gave me much needed space. It was a treat to take the time to connect with the land and myself in a time of distancing.

I love joining virtual nature bathing walks with Vicky Kyan! She has a gentle and heart-felt way of guiding that helps me connect with myself, others in the circle, and the natural world in a deep way. The bonus is to be able to see her gorgeous island scenery on the virtual walk. I feel relaxed and invigorated after the walk, and joyfully connected to others all around the world at this time. Highly recommend!

This is a fabulous experience for taking time out to be with yourself and nature. Vicky is a gentle guide in enabling this process of being still and connecting with the nature around us and seeding our souls. Medlands Beach is an amazing and rich environment.
Walk Participant, Great Barrier Island
Though an ocean away, Vicky's virtual nature bathing walk helped to re-centre me. I felt a close connection with the land I was on and felt supported by the community on the call.
